Our dream is to see Open House Hubs developed across Cambridge and the surrounding areas. An Open House Hub is formed of a partnership of local churches with Cambridge and District Youth for Christ in a specific geographic location. An established hub would have ministries representing every part of the Wellbeing Pathway which young people in the community can access. We recognise that this is only possible in partnership and that hubs will take time to grow and establish as relationships are formed, trust built and ministries developed. We have a vision to see 10 hubs established with ongoing youth ministry partnerships by 2034.
Currently, a city centre hub is growing at No. 40 St Andrew’s Street in partnership with St Andrew’s Street Baptist Church. You can find out more about the Open House Hub at No. 40 here.
There are ongoing conversations and prayer meetings with a group of church leaders in Arbury and through these, a Wellbeing Drop In for young people called Space2BU has been established in Arbury Road Baptist Church. This is currently run in partnership between Arbury Road Baptist Church, Arbury Community Church and Cambridge and District Youth for Christ.
We are also exploring developing a hub in Cherry Hinton. One of our Catalyst partnerships, St Andrew’s Cherry Hinton, has established a weekly Youth Drop In Café and we also have the privilege of running our mentoring programme in a local secondary school, supported by team from St Andrew’s Cherry Hinton and Queen Edith Chapel.
