To follow on from our Discover sessions at No.40, this term we invited young people to take part in Youth Alpha sessions. The young people have really enjoyed the format of having a meal together before getting into the deeper questions about life and faith. We have had some young people dip in and out, but for the most part have had a committed bunch who are seeking to know more about Jesus.

During Youth Alpha we have had young people open up about the challenges that they face in their day to day lives, including challenges with mental health and bereavement. The young people have felt comfortable to be open and honest about why they are searching.

We held the Holy Spirt sessions over two weeks. In that second week, we had a time to pray for people to receive the Holy Spirit and six of them wanted to be prayed for. We even offered further prayer after the session so that we could pray more specifically into situations the young people were going through and all of those young people wanted to stay for more prayer.

In our last session we unfortunately only had one young person due to other end of year school things going on. However, we have got to know this young person over the last few years and when we asked them whether they would like to choose to follow Jesus, they said yes and we had an opportunity to pray with and for them in this significant moment.

Youth Alpha has gone really well, especially as a pilot for collaborative Alpha courses with local churches in the future.
