Hi, I’m Jenifer — the Year Out volunteer with Cambridge & District Youth for Christ. After sensing God’s call to work with young people, I began looking for opportunities to be equipped — and that’s how I came across Cambridge and District youth for Christ.

I joined the team in the beginning of March. The past couple of months have been full and meaningful! I’ve been settling in, building relationships and learning so much along the way. I’ve been involved in youth drop-ins and Discover, getting to know young people and having some really encouraging conversations. I’ve also been training for mentoring, which I’m really looking forward to starting in May. I also had the opportunity to attend Spring Harvest for a week, serving on the 16-18s team. It was incredible to see the openness and hunger the young people have, to know and serve Jesus.

Alongside this, I’ve been part of The Church Experiment — helping with youth events, discipleship groups, and being part of a supportive church family. From the bubble tea socials, to games evenings, it’s been such a rich season of serving and growing. We have also been running the ‘practising the way’ course, which helps lay a foundation for a lifelong apprenticeship to Jesus. I felt incredibly supported by both Cambridge Youth for Christ and church teams and I’m so grateful to be part of a community that invests in young people and in those who are called to walk alongside them. If you’re looking for a community where you can explore God’s calling and be equipped to work with young people, this is such a special place to be.

If you’re thinking of taking a year out in September, we’d love to talk to you about what a year out with Cambridge Youth for Christ could look like!
