This half term, we’ve been running our Discover faith exploration sessions at No.40. The young people who have been coming are mainly non-Christian young people who are curious about faith and want a space to chat about their lives.
We’ve tried to be flexible in how we use the sessions – responding to the need of the young people who come and going off plan a few times to try and let them have the space they need to talk. It’s been great to see some of the young people really start to trust us and want to let us know about things that are going on in their lives.
There have been really challenging life circumstances that the young people just wanted to talk through with some adults that they trust. We’ve made space for them to talk these things through and I think that this is the really early stages of Faith Exploration as they are realising that they want solutions to these problems in their lives – they want someone to take away their burdens. They might not yet know that Jesus can do that, but hopefully as we get to know them more and more and suggest to them that Jesus might be able to help them and, in fact, that he wants to help them, they might begin to consider that Jesus is the answer.
